Dr Nishant Patodi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Berkshire, BIH and Spire Dunedin Hospital in Reading. He was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Berkshire Hospital in 2014 where he has led the inflammatory bowel service for the past five years.

He qualified from University of Southampton in 2004. He undertook specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine In the West Midlands before completing his certificate for completion of training (CCT) in 2013.

He was awarded the Internationally renowned Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at St Marks Hospital in 2013 which he completed in 2014, before taking up the Consultant job at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

His main interests are treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and inflammatory bowel disease and he regularly performs variety of endoscopy procedures such as gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and polypectomy. He is an accredited bowel scope screener.

He has performed in excess of 8000 endoscopy procedures to date including 750 procedures in the last year. This includes 350 colonoscopies in the last year where his caecal intubation rate of 95% is in excess of the national requirement of 90%.

Personal Profile

Nishant is married with two young children. He is passionate about his sport and loves to travel at any given opportunity with his family.
